Cannabinoids are compounds that occur naturally in cannabis plants. Some cannabinoids are intoxicating while others are not. For example, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is intoxicating and responsible for the “high” feeling after consuming cannabis. On the other hand, Cannabidiol (CBD) is non-psychoactive and does not make you feel “high”.
For our products, we use a broad spectrum meaning only CBD and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids are present. The cannabinoids attach themselves to CB1 and CB2 receptors in our endocannabinoid system.
The endocannabinoid system abbreviated as ESC is a biological system in our body that controls different processes. ESC is responsible for appetite, metabolism, immune functions, mood, pain, and reproduction.
There is no complete understanding of how the endocannabinoid system works, but it is known to contain receptors. As aforementioned, cannabinoids bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors.
Cannabinoid oil or CBD oil as the name suggests is the sap extracted from cannabis plants. It is possible to extract cannabinoids using various methods. The method used determines the potency of the oil.
For our case as the Swiss team, we use non-solvent methods of extraction to ensure our oil is potent enough. These methods also ensure the oil is pure with no traces of harmful solvents like propane used by other companies.
Hemp and Marijuana are usually used interchangeably to mean the same thing, but this is a mistake. The two are different in terms of chemical composition and physical appearance.
In terms of chemical composition, Marijuana has more THC and less CBD content while hemp has less THC and more CBD.
In terms of physical appearance, Marijuana is small, bushier, and has more flowering buds while hemp is fibrous, long and firm stalks.
US-grown hemp is regulated under the EU regulations and it is, therefore, a legal crop. All our products are made from this hemp and they are all legal for that case. As already mentioned, hemp contains low levels of THC content when compared to Marijuana.
The straight answer is NO. SwissLab CBD products are broad-spectrum with zero THC content. We use a non-solvent extraction method to make sure that the level of THC is less than 0.2% in the final product.
